Surreal Artwork Continues to Inspire

Riverside, CA - The human eye is naturally drawn to things that feel impossible, unexpected, or out of place. Whether it's floating landscapes, impossible architecture, or dreamlike worlds, surreal design breaks rules. But it also allows us take a step back, look closer, and think differently.
I believe artwork like this plays an important role in evolving the way we see, create, and consume design.
Studying surreal work—and drawing inspiration from artists who push boundaries—encourages out-of-the-box thinking. It challenges predictable creative habits and opens the door to new ideas, processes, and outcomes.
We need one-offs.
We need strange ideas.
We need visuals that break us away from what's familiar.
Of course, the fundamentals still matter. Hierarchy, composition, typography, proportion, all of the foundation matters. But experimentation keeps the creative energy engaged in new ideas, and sometimes unknown territory.
There are situations where this design style feels perfectly at home: album covers, event flyers, posters, vinyl wraps, merchandise, and background artwork. In these spaces, the unusual often becomes the most memorable.

Creative Experiment
Below are a collection of digital designs I created utilizing random elements, environments, & architecture. The fun part was utilizing multiple skillsets bundled into 1 project. Hand sketching, image manipulation, image treatment, enhancement, revision, AI, etc.. Every piece required different processes.
I call this collection; Sun Orange
